Mayling Birney:Â Lecturer and assistant professor at the London School of Economics; currently writing a book on how China limits the unwanted effects of its own political reforms and stabilises authoritarian rule.
Dr Xiaobing Wang:Â Lecturer in economics at the University of Manchester. Before leaving China he was a corporate law consultant. He is currently conducting empirical work on the welfare of rural residents in China alongside a range of other areas.
